Last Sunday morning, I flew off to KL for 4 days. It was my second time visiting KL, the first time was back in 2004? So many years back!! Obviously, I went there for an assignment but I can't state what was it yet because I'm not allowed too...
I was so exhausted because I was working for Johnnie walker jet black party which ended at about 3am. My flight was 7am which meant that I had to be at the airport at around 5am. No sleep at all !!!
As soon as I landed, my KL agent drove me to the agency, a 45 minutes ride. KL has 2 airports, KLIA and LCCT. Just so you know, budget airlines like AirAsia flies to LCCT( their budget airport), whereas SIA and such fly to KLIA.... Both airports are very far from the city so be prepared to spend a little bit of money to take a taxi into the city!
My accommodation was at Eastin Hotel, not in the city but slightly 15 minutes away by taxi.. It was so far the best hotel I stayed in after about 2-3 years of travelling. The king size bed was lovely and I slept so well :)
My 4D3N stay cost about 1000 RM with breakfast daily.. However, I overslept and missed the breakfast-.-
I was only able to wake up for breakfast on the 1st day. Oh by the way, they have shuttle buses to shopping places in KL.. Only 1 or 2 but the timings are a little late like 7.30PM... and they will pick you back to the hotel at 10.30pm.
I had about 2 and a half days of free time which meant shopping!!!!! The opening and closing time of KL's shopping malls are exactly the same as SG. Their malls are huge also, made my legs jelly after walking for a whole day. Here are a list of places I went!!
1) Times square
Have you guys been to platinum mall in bangkok?? Times square is almost the exact same type of shopping mall just like platinum. Blogshop clothes retailing at 25/35RM. All the shops are almost the same!! That's on one side of the mall. Of course, the other side of the mall had retailers like adidas, FOS so on and so forth.
There was an indoor theme park but it was not crowded at all.
2) Sungei Wang
Sungei Wang is located just opposite Times square.. Accessible just by crossing a bridge from times square.
Similarly, it is another platinum...only a few shops sold things/clothes that were a little different from the rest.
I had lunch at a Teppanyaki outlet. The salmon steak was only about $6sgd with vege overload!! Delicioussss mmm yum. I had the exact same meal before my flight.
3) Pavilion
The mall for the rich.. If you are intending to shop for luxury goods, here is the place to go. However, there are also middle class retailers like Zara, Uniqlo blahblahblah... I caught "Lockout" at the cinema there . The ticket was only $5SGD and I had the best seats everrrrrrrrrrrr!!
4)Lot 10 and Fahrenheit 88
These are 2 different malls but they are just next to each other. 88 was a boring mall because renovation was still taking place so there was not much to shop or look at. Lot 10 had zara, mango and some local brands..
Most of the malls carry retailing brands that we already have in SG, maybe their prices are slightly $10-$20 cheaper?
5) KLCC
Just behind the famous petronas twin towers, KLCC is another mall for the rich. Luxury goods, yes. Zara, mango AGAIN. Uniqlo AGAIN.. Practically most of the shops in the mall can be found here. Nothing much to look at and yes ALOT of walking. There is an F21 outlet thou..
All the malls I have listed are in the same area, Bukit Bintang except KLCC. KLCC is a little further from the other malls, taking the taxi will do the job. On the other hand, the other malls are between walking distance, no problems.
6) Mid valley mega mall
Out of the city, Mid valley mega mall really is a MEGA mall. Expect alot of walking too. Similar shops that are found in Lot 10, KLCC are also located here. I had the best ramen ever in my life!!!! Its called " Goku raku ramen" if I'm not wrong? On Mondays and Tuesdays, they have 50% for any type of large bowl ramen. Before 50% , one large bowl of ramen is priced at 20RM-23RM... After 50%, one bowl would cost about 11RM..... Converted to our currency..... 1 bowl is only $4-$5SGD!!!!!!!!!
Seriously.. after all the hype about Ippudo ramen here.. Ippudo's ramen is no match to the ramen served there. Exact same serving size but the soup is unbelievable!!! You have to try to know!
Overall, I enjoyed KL very much. Traffic there is very bad during peak hours. After watching the news for the past few days about the riots/elections/etc at KL, I'm so grateful I came back on Wednesday night..
Imagine you were at the place just a few days ago and so much chaos has happen :( Scary...
Xx
