Okay, since I'm really really FREE.. I shall write a post about one of the cities I visited back in June.
From what I remembered, I did not write any travel post about the trip yet because everything was such a mess.
I came home day before the new term and found myself in school for the next 3 months, packed with schedules again .
Amsterdam was one of my favourite places in the entire trip.
Ok the plan was
Singapore > Switzerland > Milan> Venice> Amsterdam> London> Paris
YES, Thats a hell lot of places to visit in a time limit of 18 days.
Some days we just can't get enough sleep. I need to visit these places again.
As you can see, Amsterdam was the last few places, so I already got sick and tired of taking pictures.
Besides, I was really tired and a little homesick so there was not much pictures of myself either.
Everyday I just left the hotel with my eyeliner and eyebrow drawn. bleurgh
So, here are the best pictures I can pick out to show you readers a little about amsterdam.
Firstly, I love LOVE this place because the people are SO friendly. Especially our hostel owners.
But wait. We got a very big shock when we found out our hostel was a ship.
I was like DAFUQ AINT YU GONNA LET ME STAY THAT SHIP...
The location that I did according to all the maps before I left sg was correct but we could not find
our hostel when we touched down. Then... deng deng deng..........
IT WAS THIS SHIP OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYY
GAWWDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.
YOU REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW I FELT THAT MOMENT. I was like shit.!
Because I was in charge of finding hostels and planning the itinerary for all 6 of us. I was expecting like a decent nice hostel, a BUILDING OF COURSE. Picked this because all the reviews on hostelworld was so positive...
We had to drag our huge ass heavy luggage on that small little metal slope (as you can see on the left side of the picture) .
Couldn't absorb the reality that I was staying in a ship.. Okay maybe not even a ship.. A BOAT.
The owners were really friendly and EXTREMELY HELPFUL. Their hospitality was awesome and I felt like they were my family. :)
The lady owner gave me like a huge map of Amsterdam, stating all the sights, places and nice eaterys to have delicious morning breakfast. And yes, it was indeed delicious and affordable ;)
Amsterdam was definitely cold and windy when we went . The wind was so strong that all the bicycles, barricades topple over.
The thing I hate about Europe is that their night is longer than the day, which means shopping malls close at about 5pm or latest 6pm . SO FRUSTRATING HOW TO DO SHOPPING LIKE THAT?!?!?!?!
But anyway, there was the famous chinese floating restaurant just opposite our "hostel".
Apparently, it was one of HK's famous restuarant but the food was sooooooo -__- Like I think
my house kopitiam's char siew fan nicer than here. However, it was definitely comforting to have chinese food after the entire first half of the trip.
Oh one disadvantage of the boat was that there was not any WIFI.
YES NO WIFIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
HOW CAN I LIVEEEEEEEE WITHOUT UUUUUU (sings to the song)
But fortunately, the chinese restaurant did have :)
HAHAHAHHAH so the whole meal I was just hogging my phone and talking to jovin because I miss him soo oooooo oooo OOOOo much.
The next day, we visited the famous van gogh musuem. You have to visit early because it gets really crowded in the noon or when tour groups come by . X.X
Fascinating to learn about Van gogh and his past.. After looking at a few levels, I found myself sitting on the bench tapping their WIFI HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA
There comes a point of them when Sara and me were hesitant to leave the musuem.
There is wifi everywhere in Amsterdam so don't worry.
One of the random spanish cafes we ate at for late lunch. The serving is really huge there but I love their fries^.^ Yummy.. I could order free flow of spare ribs for this meal but oh man just forget it.Yes, its shown in the pictures, I can finish the whole bowl of fries. HATE CRINKLE FRIES!
By coincident, the period where I visited Europe was during the Euro cup season. When I was in venice, italy was playing, when I was in amsterdam, holland was playing, in paris, france was playing ..
Wooohoo italia!!!! ITALIA GUYS ARE SO DAMN HAWT.
Everywhere had decorations and flags.. This is one of the famous shopping streets in amsterdam, forgot the name thou :B
As you can see, the sky is not dark yet and yet the shops are already closed. :(
Another random huge shopping mall near the dam square. AH NOW I REMEMBER THE FAMOUS SHOPPING DISTRICT! Dam square.. Very near to red light district also where all the guys, tourist, china mans were glueing their eyes to the windows. I went into this shopping mall and there was MANGO SALE. It closed within 1 hour so I did not explore the mall much :(
Spent most of my time grabbing the cheap MANGO clothes hehehehehehehheheheheehehehhehehe
As I previously mentioned, the night ends very early so we usually head back to our bout to chill.
There is a very nice balcony with tables and chairs where you can have biscuits, drinks and just enjoy the evening.
The thing I didn't expect was the damn weather!! It was suppose to be summer already and I brought all my summer clothing and a couple of sweaters and 1 jacket for the trip.
In the end, all the cities we visited were still between temperatures like 10-20 degrees.
You must be thinking. 18-20 degrees , NO PROBLEM! My room aircon temperature is the same !!
When the wind blows, you literally shiver and your teeths will clatter.
Because I did not bring enough cover ups, I was just piling anything that would keep me warm although they
did not match very well :(
Fashion mistake.
Sara and me feeding the duckies outside our boat. We would feed them biscuits and breads at the end of the day and sit by the bridge with our legs dangling.
Feeding the swans. My face looks so tired in the pictures because some days I can be so tired to even
apply eyeliner -__-
TULIPS!!!!
All of the flowers were so pretty, I want to bring them home but my home is so far away :(
Tulips is the national flower of amsterdam. You can see them selling tulips almost everywhere.
Roofs of the buildings in Amsterdam looks like this. Uneven roofs.
I just love Amsterdam! Love the whole atmosphere of the place.
On our last day before departing for the next city, we went all the way out of amsterdam to visit windmills!
Holland is famous for their windmills but of course, so we cannot miss them!
The area is called Zaanse Schans
You can take a bus ride from Amsterdam Centraal station . The tickets were about 3-6 euros per person??
I forgot what number thou, it brings you all the way to this place. Of course there were bus stops in between.
Wasn't a very sunny day when we visited the windmills, it was drizzling.
You will hate it whenever it rains in Europe because it really ruins your travelling itinerary. They mark up
the price of an ordinary umbrella and disposable poncho whenever it rains.
The poncho can cost $7 sgd when its only $1sgd WHUUTTT? I refuse to buy and rather be in the rain.
Inside one of the windmills that was making wood.. There were like 4-5 windmills in the area and you can
go in to take a look . Some only open on certain days which you have to refer with the IAMSTERDAM BOOK. I purchased the IAMSTERDAM card which gave me 72 hours unlimited travel on public transport with a few booklet that contained all of the places to visit.
Oh well, thats about it.. A little summary of Amsterdam. Definitely a place you must visit. Can't wait to save enough money to plan for my next europe trip. Maybe to germany??
KRAFTS CHEESESTICK!!!!!!! MY CHILDHOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD!!!!!!
They used to sell this at cold storage for like $8 bucks and after awhile I could not find it anymore :(
NUuuuuuuuuuuuuu but I found it back in amsterdam when I was waiting for my flight at the airport.
BUTTTTTTTTTTT MY BAG HAS COMPLETELY NO SPACE TO PUT IF I BUY sooo..
I gave it a miss :(
Does anyone know where to get it now?!?! Its usually at the cheese section of cold storage but no more :(
so yummeh!!!!!
Ok lessons start at 9 tmr I need to sleep NOW!
Hehe today I had dinner with jovin just like other days and we had yummy baby kailan, our favourite
because it haz no stalks!! Hate to eat stalks of vegetables. And like any other meals, he fed me the prawns hahahahahaa !
Do your work now!!!!
:*
